The Moonshots were launched in September 1999, when vocalist Andy Atkins and guitarist Steven Cray began performing together as an acoustic duo at private parties and events in Tokyo. Sharing a love of roots rock music, Atkins and Cray quickly began branching out to perform in clubs and restaurants, expanding to a full band that today includes bassist Ron Che, percussionist Pequeno and drummer Toshio Chatani.

Moonshots music is a potent blend of hard-driving roots rock, blues and country, with traces of funk, latin and reggae sounds. A powerhouse live act that always excites, the Moonshots continue to rock the clubs and live houses of Tokyo, filling dance floors with their 'feel good' grooves and high energy live shows.

In May 2010, the band released their first studio album, Ten Year Testimonial.
